Well more updates have been underway on my shop in all kinds of ways, please let me know what you think for the ones that you can see. Well it's been a long time since my last blogpost. I've finally opened my online shop properly. Check it out @ www.our-realm.co.uk if you want. Obviously product range is very small at the moment but hopefully with sales and time I can grow it. I signed up to Tradedoubler.com a website that connects you with Companies that engage in affiliate programs through Tradedoublers. By placing links for a certain website you earn commission on a sale made through that link, sometimes the method varies slightly and naturally the amount of pay those between companies and nature of services and type of affiliate program. So I made a list of websites that I have shopped at and like as obviously I won't promote immoral, dangerous, unhealthy etc, companies. And customers know that I run a family friendly, ethical business and so anyone affiliated with me must stick to that. So never mind a company checking my website is up to standards, if they aren't I will end the affiliate progrma immediately, which is why I have also asked customers/visitors to report anything to me and the company concerned. So I applied for Tesco straightaway and got accepted which was great, a couple a week later I applied for declined but on the same day "HMV" accepted me so now I have 2 affiliates! And of course I won't plaster my site with adverts, there will be no more than 2 for each company/brand, usually only one and I will only have a limited number of affiliates. If I wanted to earn more money I could do more programs but money isn't my concern, yes it would be nice to make a nice living from my shop but I want a good, friendly business that people come back to me for that unique shopping experience that big companies can not give, if I can do that, I am successful even if bankrupt.
